Introduction

Hello and welcome once again to the Wirral Early Intervention Team website. The site serves several purposes. Firstly, it is a place for team members, service users, family members, carers and visitors to exchange information and support each other. Secondly, it provides an overview of the team's aims and methods. Browsing the site should give at least some insight into how the team operates, and how much service users are involved with the running of the team and made to feel that their opinions count. The site also serves to notify people of up and coming events, and to give summaries of recent events. It is hoped the site will develop into a sort of 'hub' of team activity, and will be of use to anyone who is involved with the team, in whatever capacity. Visitors to the site may learn something about early intervention itself, and mental illness and psychiatry in general. While the site obviously cannot cover every aspect of these issues, we aim to have a very extensive links page where further information can be accessed.

The site was created by service users themselves, and while the opinions and guidance of professionals were taken on board and continue to be of value, the ethos of this site is that it is primarily designed and maintained by service users, for service users. This webiste is therefore not intended to be a substitute for the advice of a medical professional, nor does it offer any form of crisis resolution service. Site news:

Update. 20th February 2008!

The forum has been completely overhauled and chat is now integrated with the forum database, so one password and username will do for both. Two medication pages and a glossary were added. Pop-up comment boxes were added to the meds pages. Both the content and the style of the site are coming along nicely, but we are far from finished.

Update. 14th February 2008!

Development of the site's content has hit something of an impasse until we receive some feedback from users about what to feature on the site. In the meantime, the design of the site is being tweaked, and compatibility issues are being resolved. The website now incorporates a centred design that supports all web browsers, and resolutions of 800x600 upwards. A recent bug fix allowed support for the magnifying zoom function of Internet Explorer 7. However, if you are visually impaired and find the zoom function of web brosers useful, your best bet is still probably Opera.

Update. 07th February 2008!

Overall, the site is still far from complete, but we are getting there! We have now registered our domain name as www.wirraleit.info, with the hope that this will make us easier to remember and find. The site has also been submitted to most of the major search engines so, if all goes according to plan, in a few weeks we will show up in web searches. Work will continue on spreading the word about the site, so do your part and let people know about us. The aim is to increase site traffic and establish a community of users here.

The forum is now complete in terms of functionality. It is possible to register, login, post and update user profiles. You can do everything you'd expect to be able to on a web forum. However, we are still undecided on what to call our sub-forums, and how many of them to have. Please do have your say! Any and all suggestions are welcome, and will be taken 'on board'. Hopefully this matter will be discussed at the next user group meeting, so please come along if you can. In the meantime, please post anything you like on the forum, and your messages will be saved and moved should the structure of the forum be redesigned later on.
